    And that includes our dear dog, Cosmo.

    We all know how many parasites our pets can bring into the home. Taking care of the littlest ones in our family is the secret to keeping everyone healthy in the household.

    One way to zap our furry family members is to hold the copper handles up against our pet’s skin, getting the fur out of the way. Cosmo has pits that have very little fur, so I put the copper handles there. For other pets, it may be their belly area. Just find spots that will make the most contact with the copper handles.

    The second, more effective, way to zap pets is by setting up a Zappicator. A Zappicator is created by the combination of a Hulda Clark Zapper set to 1 kHz connected to a North Pole Speaker. I set up the North Pole Speaker Box under Cosmo’s bed and he can relax while zapping.

    5 Ways to Fight Off Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria

    Over a month ago, the Center for Disease Control released a statement about the real and gnawing threat of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria. PBS’s Frontline followed up with a shocking first-hand look at this “Nightmare Bacteria” and the people affected by them. A few days ago, the National Resources Defense Council piped in with their warning about the misuse of antibiotics in livestock causing this “race toward the cliff.”

    There are no real solutions being presented to us by government or medical establishment. They are either dragging their feet to protect their industries’ profit margin, or are stumped as to what to do.

    The problem is threefold: people’s overuse of antibiotics, livestock overuse of antibiotics, and now in environment and wildlife.

    Big Pharma is putting millions of dollars into research for stronger and better antibiotics, but sooner or later we will be faced with the same question: How long before bacteria develops resistance to those?

    It’s really troubling if you have no plan of action on how to protect yourself and your family from this “Superbug.” Let me share my plans of action with you. I hope my ideas can be of use to you and your family.

    1. By any means, avoid going to a hospital. Hospitals are teeming with infections, and you increase your likelihood of encountering antibiotic-resistant bacteria there. (See PBS Eight Ways to Protect Yourself from Superbugs.)

    2. Wash your hands. With water. Wash with water as long as you can sing the “Happy birthday” song twice to make sure you are thoroughly washed. Scrub fingers and under the fingernails. Dump the hand sanitizers, especially the ones that are antibacterial. They contribute to the creation of superbugs. Keep vodka in a spray bottle for those times when you have no access to running water.

    3. Zap. According to the books written by Dr. Hulda Clark, the Zapper is a device that emits a positive offset square wave frequency that shatters parasites, bacteria and viruses. Frequency medicine was pioneered by Nikola Tesla in the 1900s and followed up by Georges Lakhovsky, Royal Rife and most recently, Hulda Clark. Hulda Clark developed a zapper for direct use, and another one she called a zappicator for zapping foods and beverages. She published the schematics public domain in her books so anyone can build them. There are many for sale on the internet, and some that are not up to specs, so choose wisely. *The Hulda Clark Zapper is in the public domain and therefore has not been evaluated by the FDA. Not surprisingly it has been discredited by Big Pharma and their minions.

    4. Eat organic. Find small local farms that raise their livestock with no antibiotics, no hormones, no pesticides in feed. If they have organic certification, great. If not, visit their farm and see how they raise their animals. Eat certified organic fruits and vegetables. Use the Hulda Clark Food Zappicator on your food before eating.

    5. Colloidal silver can be purchased at your local health food store. It was used widely by physicians in the early 20th century but was discontinued in the 1940s when antibiotics became more popular. Now is a good time to get back to this effective solution to simple infections. NASA astronauts use it to keep their water source free of bacteria while in space.     As we enter the end of the Antibiotic Era, it is time to think outside the box. Pharmaceuticals have not provided us with sustainable answers. They worked, for some time, but increased side-effects and vested financial interests have rendered them a dead end for us. Worse comes to worst, doctors employ surgery to remove infection. But that’s another nightmare altogether.

    An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

    Something terrifying happened! My husband was helping his uncle put away wood in their basement and found a deer tick on him. He showed it to me and flushed it down the toilet. The next morning he found that he missed another deer tick that had overnight lodged itself into his skin.

    What followed was horrifying. My husband had to pull the tick off him with tweezers, taking care not to leave any tick parts in his skin.

    After he pulled it out, we drowned it in a little bottle cap of vodka.

    I’m glad he noticed the tick on his body right away. The less amount of time a tick is lodged into one’s skin, the less likely to develop lyme disease.

    The usual course of action if one suspects lyme disease is to go through several rounds of antibiotics. A woman who has been living with lyme disease for over a decade told me that she had a few rounds of antibiotics after she got bitten by a tick, and that she stopped taking antibiotics as soon as her lyme disease symptoms ended, only to have relapses many years later. She said in retrospect she should have continued on the antibiotics well past when her symptoms ended.

    Karen Allen, actress well known for her appearance on the movie Indiana Jones, talked about her bout with lyme disease and how she found relief in the Hulda Clark Zapper.

    Another reason to feel lucky that we have the Hulda Clark Zapper in our home. Every home should have one!

    We’ve had a really fun weekend with friends, carving pumpkins and roasting marshmallows on a fire outdoors. Then suddenly last night my daughter woke up crying and clutching her ear.

    My first response is to set her up with a Hulda Clark Zapper. She zapped, holding it close to her ear and under her jaw. I also gave her some echinacea and brought her a warm washcloth to comfort the ear that hurts. Pretty soon my husband was up too and set her up with a hot water bottle to replace the washcloth. Within half an hour she was asleep again.

    I tried to imagine the same situation if I didn’t have a Hulda Clark Zapper.

    I grew up in the tropics. I never had an earache as a child. I once had a mosquito enter my ear, but that’s a whole different story. My husband grew up here in Maine, and told me he constantly had earaches. He remembers staying up all night, 6 to 7 hours of crying in pain, with only a hot water bottle for comfort.

    A while back in conversation with a dad at a playground, he told me how glad he was he had health insurance because of how often he had to take his children to the emergency room for fevers and ear infections.     Personally I would hate to do this to my kid. First off I think hospitals are a good source of secondary infection. You come in with one problem and leave with more. Next, I don’t like drugs. Even the ones doctors prescribe have a level of toxicity. That’s why doctors have to control them with a prescription. Then of course, there is the threat of antibiotic-resistant pathogens we cannot anymore ignore. And finally, going to the ER is so stressful at a time when a child most needs to rest.

  • Safe Cosmetics

    This video, “The Story of Cosmetics,” is presented by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and the same people who created the really eye-opening and much-recommended to watch, “The Story of Stuff.”

    I’ve been reading about toxic ingredients in cosmetics and body products since 1997 when I first read Dr. Hulda Clark‘s book, “The Cure For All Cancers.” Back then I was a toxic cocktail of body products, and it showed on my acne-ridden face. I was stuck on a vicious cycle of covering up my acne with toxic cosmetics, thus causing more breakouts to cover up. I had to go cold turkey, through herbal cleanses and zapping sessions, and endure the many months of my body detoxing from the abuse I had heaped upon it for years. It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t instant. It took at least a year, if I remember correctly. There were many times when I questioned what I was doing, and was tempted to fall back to my old habits. Whenever my courage flagged, I read more and more books about the subject matter. Natural Organic Hair and Skin Care: Including A to Z Guide to Natural and Synthetic Chemicals in Cosmetics comes to mind, in addition to other titles by Hulda Clark.

    When my skin finally cleared, my mind cleared as well. I became well-versed in body product ingredients. I could quickly pick out ingredients to avoid: anything with the syllable prop in it, such as isopropyl alcohol and propylene glycol, sodium laurel sulfate, anything with the syllable benz in it, such as benzoyl peroxide. These big ones alone are difficult to avoid. It doesn’t matter if the bottle says “All Natural” or “Organic” on it. Almost every product on the store shelf has at least one of these chemicals in it. They are petroleum-derived and toxic. Do Not Want.

    I became known among my family and friends as an all-natural girl. It’s tough when my mom proudly shows me a new body product she’s using with the words “All Natural” in big letters on the bottle, and then when I turn to read the label the first ingredient on it is propylene glycol. Why must I always be the bearer of bad news? Help me out here. Let’s all get educated on the ingredients of the products we rub on our selves and our children. Read those labels and learn to discern between a healthy product and a toxic one.

    Zapping has to be the best kept secret to health. The concept and practice of zapping has been studied and documented for over a hundred years beginning with Nikola Tesla in the 1900s. In a nutshell, a zapper is a device that emits a frequency which resonates throughout the body to shatter bacteria, viruses and germs, much like a singer shatters glass with the right pitch and frequency.

    Despite the zapper not being acknowledged by the FDA and the medical establishment, I’ve been using the zapper since I came across it in 1997, with satisfying results. My daughter does not know life without it. Zapping doesn’t feel like anything, there is no electrical jolt or buzz. It’s the ultimate in doing nothing because you just sit there holding the electrodes while doing, well, nothing. I believe it works because symptoms are relieved after use, sometimes dramatically, like with a stomach ache.     Doing Nothing When My Child is Sick

    There is nothing worse for a parent than having a sick child. There is no sleeping when the germs are having their way with our kids. And as a reward for our care, we parents get a dose of the same sickness after our kids are through with it. Can someone please remind me why I wanted so badly to be a mom?

    Whenever I come across someone twittering about their kid being sick, I am filled with so much empathy for their plight. I know how it feels to look helplessly at a fevered, coughing, snot-runny, crying child and not have a magic wand to wave it all away. I’m going through that right now.

    My daughter had a slight sniffle on Friday morning, and though I felt conflicted, I brought her to her dentist appointment for a filling. (I feel very badly about this. I don’t know anyone who has ever had a filling on a milk tooth. I feel so stupid, and scammed! Worst of all, I have to face the fact that my 5 year old now has something in her mouth every day that weighs on her immune system even just the slightest bit. All because I was a schmuck who didn’t think it through clearly enough before everything was said and done. After all the reading I’ve done about questionable dental practices, I still got sucked into signing my kid up for it. But I digress.)

    Everything was fine over the weekend. Monday she went to preschool and had a playdate with a friend and her little one-year-old brother after school. Wednesday, she woke up with a cough, her friend was absent from school. Thursday morning my daughter woke up with a fever. I kept her home.

    The most valuable resource I’ve ever gotten prior to giving birth was Aviva Jill Romm’s book, Naturally Healthy Babies and Children: A Commonsense Guide to Herbal Remedies, Nutrition, and Health. The first of Six Steps of Healing, “Step 0: Do nothing to interfere; observe. Recognize and observe the processes taking place. Allow the processes to unfold.”

    I’ve always listened to my daughter’s body wisdom. From the very first moment I held her in my arms and watched her suckle instinctively, I was constantly amazed at what she knew about her body. I was humbled, and tried my best not to get in the way by imposing what I thought she was supposed to do. I did not adhere to any feeding schedule. She ate when she was hungry and didn’t when she was not. I believe that eating disorders begin when our own basic instincts are supplanted by messages from the outside, whether it’s mother imposing feeding schedules and quotas, or later on mass media telling us we are too fat. We grow up not trusting our own instincts, tossed about from fad diet to fad diet, unhealthy, unhappy, out of touch with our own bodies.

    So I listen to my kid, long before she learned to talk, and I don’t see myself changing soon. As soon as she learned to talk, we taught her the word, “symptoms.” Every time she complained or cried about pain, we asked, “What are your symptoms?” She’d say her head hurts, her nose is runny, her throat hurts… all very helpful clues to a parent, and educational for a child growing up in touch with her body and all its functions.

    Doing nothing is the hardest thing. A crying child is a siren of alarm and I don’t know any parent who can sit there without a twitch. In my 5 years of being a mom, I’ve found 5 Ways of “Doing Nothing” when my child is sick. Let me share them with you.

    1. Touch. We all have the gift of healing hands. How many times have we instinctively clutched our bellies during a stomach ache, or massaged our temples when we have a headache? I lay my palms on my child and my touch alone comforts her, relaxes her enough to be clear when she talks to me about her symptoms. I ask her if she’s comfortable, if my touch makes her feel better, if she’d rather I touch her elsewhere. Last night for instance, I had my hand on her forehead, and she told me she’d rather have my hand on her neck. Touch aids communication. Touch is communication.

    2. Healthy food and water. No matter what it is that ails our children, lots of water and healthy foods will help their immune systems heal them. Carrots and fruits are some raw foods that children already like to eat, so there’s no coercion needed. I like to serve soups at mealtimes because it’s healthy and hydrating. Best ingredients to put into soups for sick people are shiitake mushrooms and leafy greens to support the immune system. When my daughter was still breastfeeding, I made sure she had my milk as often as she reached for it. Not only did it aid her immune system, it also kept her hydrated. Avoid anything fried, dairy or sugar.

    3. Warm washcloth. Aviva Jill Romm wrote it best in her book, Naturally Healthy Babies and Children: A Commonsense Guide to Herbal Remedies, Nutrition, and Health, “Fever is not an illness. It is a process occurring as a response to infection and a signal of illness. It is not the fever itself that needs to be eliminated. Rather, the task is to support and nourish the child while the body does the work of eliminating infection, regaining equilibrium, and healing. In fact, fevers may be important in the body’s fight against invading organisms by stimulating the immune system and creating a body temperature inhospitable to bacteria.” I have never given my child medicine to reduce her fevers. I work with a washcloth and water, as hot as I can take it, and I hold it on to her forehead. As the washcloth cools slowly, so does the fever in her head subside.

    4. Echinacea. A tincture of echinacea is an over the counter herbal remedy for supporting the immune system. Our medicine cabinet is always stocked with it. I squeeze a few drops in water in a shot glass, depending on directions on the label. My daughter actually likes the taste of it.

    To this day, “doing nothing” has helped my daughter through fevers, coughs, cold, flu, ear infections, cuts and scrapes. When would I consider medical help? Broken bones. Knock on wood.

    The Steamer

    In my kitchen, the steamer is the appliance I use the most. I can steam a sweet potato, cut in two, two corn cobs and on the second level, chopped broccoli and carrots. Steam brings all the flavor out in these foods and doesn’t drain the vegetables of their nutrition value the way boiling or frying does. The best part of it all is that it is so easy. I chop up vegetables, set up the steamer and turn the timer on. I go off to play the piano or work on the computer for about twenty minutes, until the timer rings to let me know that dinner is ready.

    I have the Oster Model 4714, with helpful recipes contained in the manual. My father gave us our first Oster steamer as a wedding gift. After 7 years, it finally had to be retired. Luckily, my husband found the exact same brand and model on ebay.

    The Food Zappicator

    food zappicatorThe latest addition to our kitchen appliances is the food zappicator. It is an invention by Dr. Hulda Clark, designed to destroy micro-organisms and solvents in food and water through 1,000 Hz of frequency sent through a North Pole Speaker Box. I incorporate zappicating into my food preparation by putting foods or water (in a glass or plastic container – NO METAL) on top of the North Pole Speaker Box anytime the recipe calls for “setting aside.” After the food is prepared, I also give each dish a final zap before serving. Although I am not too strict with the amount of time I zappicate food and water (I usually zap longer than necessary), I generally adhere to the following: meats and dairy for at least 10 minutes; water, fruits and vegetables for at least 7 minutes.

    Stainless Steel Cookware

    As for cookware, we use either glass pots or stainless steel. The way to tell if your stainless steel pot or pan really IS stainless steel, is by putting a magnet on it. If the magnet sticks, then you’ve got quality stainless steel cookware. If the magnet does not stick, then your cookware is a combination of aluminum, nickel and other metals that erode into your food.

    Recently we bought a new chopping block. It is the best chopping block I have ever owned. What makes this chopping block special is that it is made of end grain wood. It is stronger, more durable against the chopping motion and does not harbor bacteria as much as chopping boards made of plastic. End grain wooden boards also keep knives sharper than side-grain wood, or wood cut with the grain. You can see that this chopping block is made up of small rectangles, instead of the typical full block with wood grain lines lengthwise. You won’t find knife marks on this kind of chopping board, and you’ll likely be able to pass this on to your grandchildren.
